Linden, NJ (April 26, 2011) — The Colavita/Forno D’Asolo Pro Cycling Team presented by Cooking Light will divide this week to conquer the 25th annual SRAM Tour of the Gila in New Mexico and the USA Crits Speedweek Series in the Southeast.

NRC Champion Cath Cheatley will lead the Colavita/Forno D’Asolo squad at the SRAM Tour of the Gila, which begins April 27th and concludes May 1st.  Last year, Cheatley finished third overall and won the Gila Monster Road Race, the aptly named final event of the five-stage race.  She also took second in the opening stage and shared the podium with teammate Andrea Dvorak in stage two.  Dvorak finished fourth in the overall standings.

“Winning is our game plan for Gila,” said Directeur Sportif Rachel Heal.  “This is a favorite race for Cath and Andrea and I expect they will deliver outstanding results.”

At the SRAM Tour of the Gila, Cheatley and Dvorak will be joined by Heather Logan-Sprenger, who scored Colavita/Forno D’Asolo’s first win of the season at the San Dimas Stage Race; Janel Holcomb, winner of the Sunny King Criterium earlier this month; Modesta Vzesniauskaite; and Kristin Sanders.

Colavita/Forno D’Asolo will begin its quest for a second straight USA Crits Speedweek Series Championship title with the Terrapin Twilight Criterium in Athens, GA on April 30th.  Last year, Theresa Cliff-Ryan sprinted to four victories in the seven-race series, earning her the overall rider championship title.  Teammate Rushlee Buchanan captured three wins and was the overall lap leader in the U25 category.

“The Colavita/Forno D’Asolo train will be unstoppable at the USA Crits,” said DS Heal.  “In addition to Theresa and Rushlee, we’ll be represented by powerhouse sprinter Kelly Benjamin, Lauren Hall, and Edita Janeliunaite, who joins us from Colavita/Forno D’Asolo’s Euro squad.”

After the Downtown Walterboro Criterium on May 4th, Cliff-Ryan will head to Bogota, Colombia for the UCI Pan American Road and Track Continental Championships.  Cliff-Ryan, who won a gold medal in the women’s points race at the 2010 Pan Am Games, is one of four women selected to represent the United States in the road race.
